Unscrupulous operators who pretend to be calling from The Computer Maintenance Department (!) Microsoft, Windows, BT, Computer Solutions, Mahandra Services and a great many other credible and respected organisations.
To add credibility they ask “is your computer running slowly?” or tell you “your computer is transmitting viruses on the Internet and we will have to cut your connection unless we can stop it!” What follows convinces many victims and they part with credit card details, money and their computer’s SECURITY.
No creditable organisation will call you to discuss your computer’s presence on the Internet. PUT THE PHONE DOWN TO THEM.
